"GOD BLESS THIS CHILD" is now an additional painting to the Headrick Chapel Collection
HEADRICK CHAPEL, Wears Valley, Tennessee

The Headrick Chapel is located six miles down the road from the Heirloom Art Studio. In 2004, the Chapel celebrated 102 years old and was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

To commemorate this event and help raise money to make renovations and conservational repairs to this piece of southern history, Kathryn Rutherford created four original oil paintings which not only permanently record the Chapel, cemetary and surrounding grounds, but, include portraits of ancestors, pastors and people associated with the Chapel. Headrick family descendants supplied ancestral photographs which were used as research for the paintings and magnificently included in the work. These were the first residents of the picturesque area known as Wears Valley.

A portion of each print sale goes to the Friends of Headrick Chapel and the Chapel Restoration Fund to aid in the conservation and restoration of this historic building and important part of East Tennessee history.

SOCKS FOUNDATION

Socks is the lovable tuxedo cat that lives at the Heirloom Art Studio. Abused as a kitten, but rescued, she lives a charmed life spending her days lounging around the Studio and begging for any attention she can get from staff and customers alike.

As a tribute to the love and attention our customers devote to this adorable cat, Kathryn Rutherford will soon be creating a series of artworks that include Socks in each of the paintings. A portion of all sales of prints, cards and merchandise created from these original paintings will be donated to an, as yet undetermined, national rescue foundation.

This project of love was inspired by the heartbreak and trauma created by Hurricane Katrina and watching owners either leave their pets behind or become separated from them during rescue. One cannot imagine what it takes in love or dollars to rescue animals and it was heartbreaking to watch owners and beloved pets become separated or lost.

Kathryn and Greg Rutherford have Socks, the Gallery Cat, living in the Studio. At home they have an eighteen pound, full body harness leash trained Maine Coone cat. Also rescued, YES, Tails was actually raised on a leash, fetches toys, comes when she's called and occasionally try and protect her owners from the odd bear that wanders onto their property. Neither Greg nor Kathryn could even begin to imagine leaving either treasured member of the family behind in any disaster situation.

As a result of their love for animals, the fine art of Kathryn Rutherford will soon be making a contribution to the most worthy cause of animal rescue.

Stay tuned for more news and information on this upcoming project.
