Giclee Printing Terms

SET-UP CHARGES
We print from customer files as well as our own digital scans and photography, however, for each image being printed, there is always an initial set-up charge to ensure your final edition is closely matched to the original image. Either provide the ORIGINAL ARTWORK or a high quality 8"x 10" gloss MATCH PRINT so that we know exactly what colours and look we need to achieve.

ARTIST PROOFS
By historic definition, an Artist Proof is one or more of the test prints created when preparing to "run" an edition of art prints. Each proof may vary in colour, contrast or other details until the final edition look is determined. This variance from the edition is what historically made these prints more valuable and allowed them to be sold as individual unique pieces of art. They were different in some way from the final edition and, therefore, could not be considered part of the edition. Each is a one of a kind print which can command a higher value or they can be discarded by the maker if he/she determines that they are not worthy of resale.

In today's market, artists tend to choose their own number of Artist Proofs from the edition. Most often it is ten percent of the number of prints run. How an Artist Proof is determined is entirely up to the artist.Mystic Ink provides ONLY FULL SIZE Artist Proofs printed on the edition media. The customer will see their work full size, exactly as it would appear on the media of the final edition. If the proof is approved, an edition order will be filled and the initial proof may be either discarded or sold as a one of a kind Artist Proof if the customer so chooses.If additional corrections and additional proofs are required, there are charges for each additional proof and the correction time to make the required changes as listed under the Printing Fees.

EDITIONS
All art print editions are printed with a minimum 1.5" border all around the print to allow for artist signature or any identification as well as matting and framing. Due to standard size papers, some prints may have more border. Mystic Ink prefers to allow the artist to trim their own prints to meet their own specifications. All canvas editions have a minimum 2" border all around to allow for stretching. Some editions may have wider borders due to standard size papers.

Mystic Ink does not supply stretcher frames nor stretching service, but, does offer mounting services if needed.

Odd sized prints are priced at the next highest size. The minimum number of prints to be ordered is ONE.

IMAGE ARCHIVING
All finished digital files are stored indefinately ready to reprint whenever necessary. Customer's original files and CD's are returned, but, any scans, transparencies or digital files created by Mystic Ink remain the property of the Studio. Only services and prints are sold. A CD is available for purchase containing finished images in sizes and resolutions suitable for promotion and web design at an additional fee.

TURNAROUND TIME
Allow 7-14 working days to complete a scan, corrections and initial proof. Once the proof is accepted, editions are run according to printing schedules which change seasonally.

PROOF AND PRINT SHIPPING
Cost of packing and shipping proofs, prints and originals depends upon image size and destination and determined by quote only. INSURANCE IS EXTRA.

PAYMENT
All set-up fees must be paid in full at the time of ordering services and proofs. Editions require 50% prepayment with balance due prior to shipping or at pick-up. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

COPYRIGHT
All copyright laws are STRICKLY enforced. If requested, any photograph or fine art MUST be accompanied by written, signed and dated proof of copyright ownership. Mystic Ink reserves the right to deny services to any customer in the event of questionable ownership.
