Each of the four main compass directions has historical, literary, symbolic, metaphysical and mythological associations.
These directions are also represented by a time of day, specific animals, birds, butterflies, plants, trees and more.
This series of paintings are not only a depiction of this information, but, each woman is a study in different fabric. Where one female wears evening satin or hot mid-day leathers, others are highlighted in chiffon by the early morning light or are caught in the evening drizzle and rain as the sun sets.
